Ordinary, Called to Be Extraordinary
Let It Be
Read Luke 1:26-38
Mary, an ordinary young woman, engaged to be married to a nice Jewish man and live an ordinary life, received a call from God to do something extraordinary. God’s message to Mary, through the angel Gabriel, was that Mary found favor with God and that made her special. When God called Mary to do this extraordinary thing – bear the child of God! – she reflected on it, she pondered it, and accepted God’s call. She replied, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Her response wasn’t to doubt, it wasn’t to cry, it wasn’t to worry. Mary’s response was to accept God’s call and sing in joy! This week, take time to explore Mary’s call from God to bear the Savior of the world.
